Halifax Stanfield sits on 960 hectares of land approximately 40 kilometres (25 miles) from downtown Halifax. The airport operates with state-of-the-art airfield equipment and provides simultaneous intersecting runway operation. NAVCANADA operates the Air Navigation System across Canada. At Halifax Stanfield International Airport the control tower is a six-level, 22-metre-high, free-standing tower boasting state-of-the-art air traffic control consoles and communications equipment, as well as the associated infrastructure such as water, storm and sewer systems, power, communications, parking and access roads.
